Before attempting to break the horse, you need to catch it. The best way to catch a horse is to use your lasso. Mount up and get close to the horse before using your lasso to stop it escaping. Once you successfully attach the lasso, you will dismount.Now, close in slowly and use Square/X to calm the horse, this makes it easier to mount. Once you have calmed the horse, attempt to mount it. This is where you will have to break the horse. Hold down on the left stick and then tilt the stick left or right, depending on the direction the horse is bucking. If it’s buckling left, hold the stick down to the right. If it’s bucking right, hold it down to the left.
